Str4nger Things Specul4tions

‘Stranger Things’ season four predictions in the air

Story by TJ Wall, Sports Editor

Ever since the TV show “Stranger Things” came onto the screen, viewers have fallen in love. The retro feel of the setting along with the sci-fi plot being full of teenage kids going on dangerous, life-threatening adventures to save the world in a Goonies-esque fashion creates a show that keeps its audience coming back for more. The roller coaster of emotions that this show takes its viewers on took many twists and turns at the end of season three, but the ride is not over just yet.

At the delight of many, season four has been confirmed and was scheduled to release in early 2021. Unfortunately, due to the spread of COVID-19, filming has been delayed, leaving a cloud of uncertainty regarding its new release date.

What we do know is that there is a season four teaser which shows Jim Hopper, who was thought to have died at the end of season three, working on a railroad in what appears to be a snowy piece of land in Russia with the song “The Red Army is the Strongest,” a Russian war anthem, playing in the background.

After this, many have wondered how Hopper could have possibly survived the explosion at the end of the last season. One theory suggests that he may have entered into the upside-down before it was sealed shut and that this is where he is currently. Another theory suggests that, because of Stranger Things’ consistent and subliminal references to a clock or the concept of time, the solution lies within the realm of time travel.

In the official announcement of season four, there was an image of a clock to the far left of the picture. In Hopper’s letter to Eleven, he states that he wishes he could “turn back the clock.” Also, in a discussion between Steve and Robin, there was a reference to the movie “Back to the Future” which is widely known for its plot full of traveling back and forth in time. These hints and clues suggest that there may indeed be some type of time travel in the new season.

One thing we know for sure is that there will be many twists and turns along the way and it will be a fun and adventurous ride. Whatever may happen, we will not know until 2021, or possibly later. However, it is always fun to speculate to keep the fans on the edge of their seat.
