The theater department is seeking all hard workers and thespian lovers. The auditions for the Tiger Theatre Company’s first production of the school year, “Arsenic and Old Lace”, will continue Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Sullivan Performing Arts Center.
This classic play takes place in 1940s Brooklyn, New York, where a family gets caught up in a murder plot. However, don’t assume this play is completely serious. “Arsenic and Old Lace” definitely has its share of funny situations along the way.
As the new theater arts teacher, this will be Micah McBay’s first time directing a play here, and he has some advice for those wishing to audition.
“Being an actor in a play is a big time commitment and requires a lot of work,” McBay said. “So, I expect to cast students who clearly demonstrate the commitment to the Tiger Theatre Company and the production.”
Prospective cast members need to be prepared to read in front of others, and stay as long as need be. Although hard work is a requirement for any theater production, fun is also included.
“I am looking for students who want to have a great time,” McBay said, “and work hard to create the most professional show possible.”
