The Texas High Marching Band attended the Northeast Texas Invitational Marching Contest at Mount Pleasant Oct. 8. This was the band’s first contest to compete in this season.
The band received first division ratings for drum major, percussion, and over-all band, and a second division in color guard. They were also chosen to compete in the finales later that evening with seven other bands out of a total of 25 competing bands.
Within the couple hours between their first run and the finales, the band pulled it together and put everything they had into their final performance. Out of eight, they placed fifth. Atlanta received first; Queen City second; Sulfur Springs third; Paris fourth; Pittsburg sixth; Hooks seventh; and Winnsboro eigth.
Invigorated with their success on Saturday, the band is even more excited about competing in the Region IV UIL Marching Contest on Oct. 18. But before competing on Tuesday, the band will be hard at work perfecting their show to impress the judges.
