In recent years the downtown has declined in popularity, but some people plan to change that within the next week.

Texarkana’s downtown area will be receiving a makeover Saturday, May 10. Two blocks on the Texas side and two blocks on the Arkansas side will be redone to promote awareness for reviving the downtown area. These blocks will be made into bustling city centers to help city officials and citizens realize the economic potential of the area.

Broad Street is planned to be remodeled into a pedestrian friendly area along with completely new landscaping. The event is run by Lee Medley, Main Street Texarkana, Texarkana Young Professionals Network and the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce.
