Dinner Theater to be held in PAC

Unlike previous years, Student Council’s annual Dinner Theater will now be held in the Performing Arts Center rather than the cafeteria. This year’s show is on Feb. 28 with food being served at 6 p.m. and the show starting at 6:30 p.m.

“We used to move in 75 tables and 550 chairs into the cafeteria, and I just made the comment ‘I wish we could have this somewhere where we wouldn’t have to go through all of that,’” Student Council adviser Susan Waldrep said. “It just kind of came up, like ‘what about the PAC? We could just serve heavy hors d’oeuvres in the foyer instead of having a sit down dinner.’ So we thought we’d try it one year and see if people like it.”

Although moving to the PAC will cut out the seated meal, Student Council weighed the pros and cons and decided that changing locations would make for a better overall experience and show.

“One of the really nice things about being in the PAC is that everyone that comes will have a good seat,” Waldrep said. “In the cafeteria you have some people 30 feet back and some people who are right there, and the quality of the sound is not as good. Those are some of the huge benefits. Another nice thing for the kids performing is that the stage is a lot larger, so they will have plenty of room to do the grade level dances.”
