As the sun begins to rise over the courtyard Friday morning, the senior class will remember two of their fallen classmates.

Before the school year started, DeQuavion “Dee” Lewis died on July 7 from a rare heart disease. Earlier this month, the class of 2019 also lost Grace Comer on Aug. 19 in a car accident.

“While we are there, we wanted to recognize the seniors that we lost this year, Grace and Dee,” senior class co-president Kendyl Myers said. “We wanted all the seniors to come because people that were actually their friends need to be there.”

Seniors will gather at 6:30 a.m. in the courtyard and will release green, blue and white balloons, weather permitting. If it rains, the balloons will be tied around the courtyard instead.

“Not everyday is promised and we never know what day is going to be our last day,” Myers said. “We need to cherish the moments that we all have together cause you never know when your last day is going to be with somebody.”
