The lights dim. The band begins to play and the show begins. Griffin Johnson welcomes the crowd and the girls strut across the stage one at a time.

The girls on court include Isabelle Robertson, Kendyl Myers, Sarah Jane Paddock, Sarah Grace Boudreaux, Sarah Rogers, Treyuanna Rush, Victoria Willis, Grace McGuire, Hartley Spaulding, Kearstan Williams, Allison Yancey and Davis Sutton.

Homecoming Court presentation is an every year tradition to express the girl’s personalities and beauty before voting on Wednesday. Each girl is walked across the stage by the senior football escort of their choice. A video interview plays to display the court’s humor.

“Being on court is so much fun, but stressful,” senior Isabelle Robertson said. “The girls make it so much easier because they keep me laughing.”

After the presentation the Highsteppers give a contemporary performance to “In My Blood” by Shawn Mendes. Andrew Davis followed this by serenading the court.

“I love singing. It was a lot of fun,” senior Andrew Davis said. “I asked to sing “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra and she said, ‘How about The Way You Look Tonight.’ ”

The night ends with everyone gathering in front of the PAC for a short energetic pep rally. The band plays a few songs and the cheer squad keeps the spirit high. The court and escorts have a final chance to take pictures and enjoy the company before turning in for the night.

“I wouldn’t want to walk with anyone else,” senior Carl Oliver said. “I had no idea Davis would pick me. It was a great night.”
