No more walking in straight lines, not being allowed to speak at lunch or getting sent to lunch detention. It’s time to start high school and there are a few things one should know heading into freshman year. 8th grade orientation for incoming Texas High freshmen will be held Monday, January 27 at Performing Arts Center on campus.

Texas High administrators and faculty provide helpful information going into freshman year. For those who have not attended a TISD school already, don’t worry all 8th graders are invited to come learn about academic and elective classes at Texas High. Incoming students can tour the campus and talk with high school students about their participation in organizations, athletics and other activities at Texas High School.

“[Parents and students] get an idea of the kind of programs they want to join. Then they get hands on experience once they get into those programs,” freshman assistant principal, William Harris said. “But giving them the opportunity to look at their programs before they make their selections gives students the opportunity to make informed decisions.”
