On Friday Nov. 17, the Rosebuds Junior Garden Club will hold their annual bake sale fundraisers for the teachers and administrators on the Texas High School campus. This event will be held in the library throughout the entirety of the school day during all lunches.
Every year, the Rosebud Club holds a Bake Sale, a Teacher’s Tea, and multiple fundraisers throughout the year in hopes to live up to the motto that makes them so memorable and respected: “Beautifying our Campus”. It takes all hands on deck for the Rosebuds to live up to their motto, so participation is required from every member.
“So far this year [in Rosebuds] I’ve participated in the Prospective Tea, attended the Initiation Dinner, and also donated to the Theron Jones Book Drive,” sophomore Nyreah Chatman said.
Alongside their many community relation events, the Rosebuds ultimate goal continues to be their on-campus project. During the 2023-2024 school year, the Rosebuds plan to put an awning over the outside area of the school cafeteria.
“This year the Rosebuds’ beautification project is to install a shade awning outside of the cafeteria to provide shade for all our students during their lunch break,” academic advisor and Rosebuds sponsor Dolores Schandua said. “The Rosebuds hope to have it installed before the end of the school year.”
In preparation for the annual bake sale, each Rosebud is required to prepare a baked good that they must supply to contribute to the success of the fundraiser. The items the Rosebuds will be selling this year are a variety of cookies, cakes, pies, cupcakes, muffins, brownies, miscellaneous items and even several gluten free options.
On the day of the bake sale, Rosebuds will spend the morning decorating and preparing to ensure that the staff will enjoy their time shopping for any baked goods they would like.
“The Rosebuds Bake Sale committee started meeting about a month ago to discuss specific details of the bake sale,” Schandua said. “We will have something for everyone.”
The Rosebuds are looking forward to the Bake Sale, and are continuing to discuss final plans, signing up to bring additional items and more before their first big event of the year.
“I’m bringing banana bread brownies for the bake sale, and I’m excited to make them because I enjoy baking,” Chatman said. “I look forward to the rest of the year in Rosebuds, and hope to bond closer to all the girls.”
