Under the glow of stadium lights, students from across the Texarkana area gathered at Pleasant Grove Hawk Stadium on Oct. 2, 2024, for the annual Fields of Faith event. The stands were filled with hundreds of friends, family, and teachers, all there to witness the power of faith and unity.
For the 4,500 who attended, the night served as an uplifting experience that fostered deeper connections and renewed faith, both in themselves and in one another. One hundred eighty-five people made decisions to follow Christ at the event.
“This is my first year going to Fields of Faith. I originally only were going because my friends asked,” sophomore Aiden Young said. “But honestly, I’m glad I went because it brought a sense of enlightenment into my life.”
Organized by the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Fields of Faith aims to inspire young people to share their faith and encourage one another, transcending the boundaries of school and sport. Jason Jackson, Jr. took the stage to share his testimony among the Christian athletes.
“I used my talents that God had already gifted me with to share them with others,” Jackson said. “Fields of Faith was nothing shy of my expectations; I wasn’t surprised at all.”
“I never did this for entertainment; I did this for impact,” Jackson says, “I represent something a lot bigger than me.”
People from all walks of life crowded the field, ready for prayers and words of encouragement.
“I’ve already been saved, but I told my friend that if he ever gets saved, I want him to come with me,” senior Cannon Harris said. “I hope that you listened to and felt every word spoken tonight.”
As music filled the air, students entered the field, the turf beneath them symbolizing common ground. They were ready to listen, to speak, and to be moved. The night began with a few upbeat songs performed by a worship band, setting a hopeful tone that invited everyone to participate. The energy was palpable—hands were raised, voices lifted in unison. For many, the lyrics became more than just words; they were a way to express hope and gratitude.
“Our goal for Fields of Faith is every person takes a step forward in their faith,” Eric Akin, FCA coordinator said. “This year’s Fields of Faith motivated students to be more committed and bold with their faith.”
