The sound of a knock is heard inside various classrooms across campus as teachers open their doors; however, instead of seeing a person outside, they see a gift basket curated specially for them.
On Sept. 27, 2024 the Leader-In-Me academics group started a fun way to show teachers their appreciation once again. Ten teachers were selected on the Texas High campus to be given a goodie basket, with the delivery being in the form of the typically infamous prank strategy: ding-dong-ditch.
“I did not come up with this idea, Bella Brush did,” Leader-In-Me teacher Parker Wright said. “I asked for different ideas to improve the teachers’ work days. I just wanted to make them feel a little bit more at home and less stressed when they’re here.”
Wright had this idea in mind and handed off the baton to his students, letting them take the lead for how they wanted to express this gratitude to our teachers on campus.
“I gave them a few class periods to think about what they wanted to do,” Wright said. “And Bella’s idea was to do a ding-dong-ditch where she leaves gifts in front of the teachers’ classrooms, just to brighten their day kind of a little bit.”
Texas High sophomore Bella Brush came up with the idea of turning a prank tactic into a method of showing appreciation for our campus teachers.
“I wanted a way to surprise the teachers with something nice,” Bella Brush said. “And the ding-dong-ditch method sounded the most fun.”
Teacher-appreciation holds great importance to Brush due to her family, making her more inclined to execute this idea.
“Since my parents are teachers, I realize how under-appreciated teachers really are,” Brush said. “So I feel that the teachers needed another way to feel appreciated. I just hope for the teachers to feel more appreciated because that’s what they deserve.”
