On Friday, Feb. 14, the Future Farmers of America club hosted a Valentine’s-themed breakfast in the agriculture parking lot from 7:30-11:20 a.m.
FFA holds many events for students and staff like barbeques and cook-outs, ensuring anyone who wants to participate can do so; however, FFA wanted to honor the Texas High CTE staff this Valentine’s Day by holding breakfast exclusively for them.
“We’re doing it so that we can show appreciation to those CTE teachers who don’t get as much recognition,” FFA secretary Max Knight said. “Most of the attention goes to the social studies and reading teachers, so we wanted to create something just for the CTE ones.”
Students recognizing the hard work their teachers put in creates a bigger impact than they may realize. Showing appreciation not only helps the school grow but also allows the teacher’s passion for guiding students to grow.
“Well, when it comes to appreciation, we get appreciation from administrators and parents,” business and management teacher Greg Brush said. “But the real appreciation comes from the heart of students.”
FFA cooked a wide spread of breakfast options, taking all the teachers’ tastes into account and making sure there would be something for everyone to enjoy.
“We cooked pancakes, bacon, and sausage,” FFA member Bree Burns said. “We also decorated them with Valentine’s sprinkles to match the Valentine’s theme.”
Despite initial struggles, FFA managed to pull it together and create an amazing breakfast experience for everyone.
“It started off a little rough,” vice president Thomas Vacanti said. “But eventually, once we got everything figured out, everything started going smoothly from there.”
