People crowd the stands as the dancers take the stage. Student council members wait anxiously for the performance to start. As the night begins, so does the music.
On Saturday, March 22, the Texas High Student Council hosted their annual Dinner Theater fundraising event at Tiger Stadium. Many people from both the school and the community came out to watch and support.
“I thought it was a good crowd,” Student Council Director Susan Waldrep said. “It was nice weather, so I was very happy.”
The crowd filled more than half of the stadium. In addition, the participating students put in a lot of effort, especially on the day of the performance.
“I think practice days are always stressful,” Student Body President Elle Floyd said. “But I think a good, stressful, hot practice day means a great show, and it was a great show.”
The people involved thought that the performance went well. The show ran smoothly, with very few bumps in the road.
“I think it went fabulously well,” Waldrep said. “I thought everybody did a really good job, we didn’t have a lot of dead time. It went really quick, and I was very happy with it.”
The event went by fast, and people were very happy; however, there was one thing that made the show just a little more difficult: that nobody could stop.
“[One thing that could have gone better was] maybe the wind not blowing so strong,” Waldrep said. “But you know what, we didn’t have any control over that, so [there’s] nothing we could have done.”
The wind was very strong, but that didn’t stop anyone from having the time of their lives. The students’ hard work paid off, and they had fun in the process.
“I think everybody put 110% effort into it, and we all had so much fun doing it,” Floyd said. “We all had such big energy, and it was just the best last dinner theater I could ever ask for.”
