The Boys Golf Team will be competing for the state championship in Austin, Texas on April 27 and 28. They will be playing at the Lost Pines Resort on their second trip to the state tournament.

“I’ve heard it’s a pretty tough course. I heard it’s a challenge, especially if there’s any wind,” freshman Matt Prieskorn said. “I’ve heard it can be tough, which is good for us. I think we want a tough golf course because that works to our advantage. I heard its kinda long which works to our advantage as well [because] three or four out our top five could bomb it.”

The biggest obstacle in the Tiger’s way is last year’s state champions. However, the boys know that they have what it takes to dethrone them of the state title.

“As a team our main competition is Austin Vandegrift,” junior Grayson Jones said. “They won state last year and have improved since then, but so have we. To win as a team we just have to play well but nothing above and beyond. Same goes for myself individually. If I play like I’m capable of, I have a chance.”

In order to win the tournament, the boys from top to bottom must play near perfectly.

“Garrett and Grayson have to play like they always do,” Prieskorn said. “They have to shoot even or better. [For] Reece and I, coach has told us 75 or below. If we all play like that, I don’t there is a team that can beat us.
