Lady Tigers triumph over Longview

The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Lobos on Jan. 12 in the Tiger Center 73-67. After being behind for most of the game, the Lady Tigers snuck by with a comeback in their close win.

The first quarter looked hopeful as the Lady Tigers won the tip. The Lady Lobos got ahead 8-2, but the Lady Tigers came back and tied the game 8-8. However, at the end of the quarter, the score was 18-11 in favor of the Lady Lobos.

The second quarter wasn’t much better than the first. The Lady Lobos quickly scored a three-pointer, making the score 31-19 Lady Lobos. Then, the Lady Lobos scored three more points from free throws resulting in a score of 34-20 Lady Lobos. At the end of the second quarter, the Lady Tigers were trailing 36-25.

The third quarter was uneventful. The Lady Lobos kept the lead the entire time. The score as the third period came to an end was 49-50 in favor of the Lady Lobos. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers started to begin a comeback.

The Lady Tigers quickly took the lead in the fourth period, and never trailed again for the rest of the game. The Lady Lobos almost took the lead with a tie of 57-57. The Lady Tigers didn’t let the close score stay as they scored 11 unanswered points to bring the score to 68-59, Lady Tigers.

The Lady Tigers came out with a win of 73-67.

“Tonight, we played hard. We rebounded and played as a team,” sophomore Blaire Bledsoe said.
