The Texas High Lady Tigers continued their softball district season with an outstanding 10-0 victory against the Hallsville Bobcats on March 31.

“We had one of our best games of the season,” coach Robbie Hatfield said. “We had great pitch and defense, and we scored several runs. Hallsville hit the ball hard but we had two strikes and two outs by our pitcher, so it was a great, well-rounded game.”

During the first three innings, the Tigers scored five runs after initially facing strikes against their batters.

“We did very well defensively and offensively,” sophomore Kaitlyn Cross said. “This was our first game in the second round so it was important that we won.”

Hallsville seemed to turn the tide during the last few innings and gave the Tigers a run for their money. However, The Tigers scored two runs after hitting a home run during the fourth inning and by the fifth, the Tigers were winning 9-0.

“Hallsville came back during the fourth inning but we held our ground,” Cross said. ”We could have been more consistent with everything, but so far we are in first place for district.”

The Lady Tigers will play their next game at home against the Marshall Lady Mavericks on April 7.
