Lady Tigers defeat Paris Lady Cats

Girls varsity soccer team defeated the Paris LadyCats 4-1 Jan. 29 at Tiger stadium. This was Coach Hillary Cloud’s first game back from maternity leave.
“At the soccer game, our main coach, Hillary Cloud, came back. I believe that she really helped us understand the game more. Before the game and during halftime, she talked to us about how we need to transition more and not to take this team lightly,” junior Mya Bowers said. “The fact that she was there made us feel better and more connected because it felt like the whole team was there, finally.”
Those who play mid-field help secure the team’s win.
“Another thing that stood out in the game was that mid-field was able to get the ball a lot and transition from one side of the field to the other and find the runs that the forwards were finding,” Bowers said. “To me, that really helped us with the game, the fact that the mid-field would go back to help defend with the defenders but also go up with the forwards to help them score.”
Scoring for the Tigers were sophomore Janie Rounds and senior Sarah Rogers.
“I feel like with this game all the pieces came together. Everyone was doing their job and we had a really good warm-up, everything was clicking,” senior Abby Deleon said. “I think that because we were able to put passes together, it was easier for us to play around them.”
With their coach on the sideline, everything just seemed to come together.
“Everybody was doing really well. We had that team energy about the game that sometimes in the past not everybody was on the same page,” Deleon said. “For this one, everyone was working together. It clicked.”
