The Lady Tigers defeated the Marshall Lady Mavericks in their district opener, putting their district record at 1-0.

An error and a hit allowed Marshall to strike first in the top of the first inning.

The Tigers gained the lead in the bottom of the first with a lead off triple from sophomore Mollie Fisher and a two-run home run from junior Emma Prince. At the end of the first, Texas High led Marshall 2-1.

The Marshall Mavericks had a leadoff line drive to left field, followed by a hit batter. An error by the Tigers resulted in two runs for the Mavericks. Senior Lizzie Smith created two outs, a strikeout and a groundout, to get the Tigers out of the inning.

The Lady Mavericks generated two quick outs, however, Fisher would single up the middle to keep the Tigers on offense. Back-to-back walks would push another run across the board for Texas High. At the end of the second inning, the Mavericks led the Tigers 3-2.

The third inning was quiet for both sides, with both defenses only seeing three at bats. The Mavericks held on to their one run lead.

Two great plays from Prince defensively, and a strike out from Smith would send the Tigers into the bottom of the fourth inning.

Sophomore Brooklyn Threadgill led off the inning with a base hit up the middle, followed by another base hit by Prince. Senior Lauren Allred cleared the bases with a stand up triple, putting the Tigers up 4-3. A Maverick error allowed Allred to score. Back-to-back walks followed by another error extended the Tiger lead by two more runs. At the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers led 7-3.

The top of the fifth was quiet for the Mavericks, with two strikeouts and a flyout. The Lady Tigers boarded their leadoff batter, who scored on an RBI by Prince. Allred had a stand up double on a shot off the top of the wall, and was scored by Smith. At the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers led the Mavericks 9-3.

The Mavericks started the inning with a leadoff triple, no runs would score. Fisher closed the inning with a diving catch from shortstop. The Lady Tigers boarded their first two batters. Sophomore Mally Lumpkin would steal third, however, Threadgill lined out to the third baseman resulting in a double play. At the end of the sixth, the Tigers led 10-4.
