Back on Jan. 2, 2023, a regular Monday night football game shocked the world of football. The entire stadium and nation watched as Buffalo Bill’s Damar Hamlin lay unconscious on the field, receiving CPR.

Fast forward to Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, after an evaluation and a decision that Hamlin would no longer require intensive care, Damar was transported to a medical facility in Buffalo, where he remained for a couple more days.

After his lead doctor at Buffalo General, Jamie Nader, decided that Damar would be okay recovering in his home and with the help of the Buffalo training staff, Hamlin was officially discharged from the hospital. Upon his release, his doctors administered a cardiac, neurological and vascular test to ensure Hamlin’s safety.

Recovery from life threatening events, such as the cardiac arrest Hamlin experienced, can take months until returning to full health.

As Damar continues his recovery, it is not yet known when he will return to the gridiron. His initial doctors from Cincinnati Medical Center are saying that, despite how swiftly he is moving through recovery in comparison to the normal trajectory, Hamlin still is on a long road until he will return to “normal”.
