Freshly pushed dirt and a perfectly lined field echo the sound of cleats hitting the ground as softball season approaches.
The Lady Tigers are hopeful for this upcoming season, implementing a new team, new mindset and promising players.
“I’m excited, and I’m really expecting us to do well this year,” said Head coach Chelsea Slider. “I’d definitely say team chemistry is going to play a major factor when it comes to success, but it’s a new year, we have a strong team, and a strong bond already so I’m very excited to see what we can do this season.”
Last season the lady tigers finished the season with a district record of 5-9, but with it being a new year the opportunities for the lady tigers to prevail through their season are endless.
“Practices have been a major factor in improving our team chemistry and skill,” said senior Mollie Fisher. “I’ve really just enjoyed getting a feel for everyone and what they have to offer our team, and I’m ready to play with these girls for my last year.”
Losing two seniors to the prior season is solemn but leaves room for new beginnings and better endings.
”We have a pretty big senior class this year,” said Slider. “So I’m optimistic that senior leadership plays a vital role in taking our team far into this season, into playoffs, and even carries into next year.”
Defensive drills, batting practice, countless hours of hard work and team bonding is what makes the Lady Tigers a team. Working together as one unit sets these girls apart from their competition.
“Considering we have a more dominant senior class and a talented younger group of girls this year I’m confident that meshing them together is gonna bring us positive results.” said assistant coach Courtney Cooper.
Looking into the season, the Lady Tigers have an upcoming scrimmage against the Paris Wildcats to kick off their season.
”As long as we show up together as a team everyday,” said Slider. “I’m positive the season will go in our favor.”
