Golf balls fly over the heads of onlookers. A resounding silence fills the air as players prepare for their next shot. As the Tiger Golf Team swings their way to the top of the charts, they prepare for the year to come. Many more tournaments will present themselves, making this just the beginning.
On Monday, August 26, the Texas High Golf Team played the Pleasant Grove Golf Team in an 18-hole scrimmage. This event took place at Northridge Country Club. Coach Ryan Huntze shows his pride in how his team did in this tournament.
“The varsity boys and girls team swept the Hawks,” Huntze said. “We had several people shoot their personal best score.”
The students constantly work hard to better themselves and prepare for what might come. Texas High students Kynlee Henderson, Rylee Hensley and Eynn Peek came in first, second and third place respectively in the girl’s bracket.
“The girls were led by sophomore Kynlee Henderson who shot 93,” Huntze said. “Followed by freshman Rylee Hensley and Elynn Peek who shot 100 and 101.”
In the boy’s bracket, one Texas High team of five won first place in the tournament as well.
“Senior Will Davis finished in 2nd place overall with a -1 round of 71,” Huntze said. “While [junior] Fox Hambleton finished in third place with a score of 73.”
Huntze thinks the team did exceptionally well overall, and he’s proud that they work hard after school, as well as in their free time. He sees this determination every day, and he saw that in the game.
“Overall I am very pleased with how everything went,” Huntze said. “It is awesome to see everyone’s hard work paying off.”
