The battle between win and lose is fierce with the Texas High Volleyball team. After a series of wins the Tigers were ready to bring all that they had to Hallsville which resulted in a devastating loss of 3-0. Although their loss was a quick setback, the Tigers are ready to gain a win and advance to the next round of playoffs.
Previously, the Tigers lost to the Melissa Cardinals during the 2023 season of playoffs. While this anoints new pressure onto the Tigers, it will create an environment of competitiveness that can push Texas High’s Volleyball team to win.
“We did come out with a loss,” Senior Libero, Carlyn Clack said. “ So now we’re having to build up from the mistakes that we made in that game and try and improve on them for the next game, which is important because it’s our first playoff game.”
The Tigers Volleyball team lost many seniors last year that didn’t make it as far in the playoffs as the team had hoped. The seniors this year want to improve and make it farther in the playoffs than the seniors before them.
“I don’t want this to be our last game because I am a senior,” Senior middle blocker Kyla Reed said. “Hopefully we come out with a win and just play all together whether we win or not.”
The Mellisa Cardinals have been a tough team, but received a loss last week. With both teams coming into the first round of playoffs with a drive to win, the game against the Tigers and Cardinals will showcase determination and grit.
“I’m looking forward to getting on the court and hopefully taking the win home,” Senior Kendyl Lee said. “Since we played them second last year and we play each other first this year, my motivation is for us to come out fast and take it set by set.”
