As the 2024-25 basketball season approaches, one thing is clear: the Texas High basketball team is entering a new chapter. Gone are the days of relying on just one or two standout players to carry the load. This year, the Tigers are built for depth, with a roster full of athletes ready to step up when needed.
Head Coach, Eric Cross has spent hours building a team that doesn’t depend on individual stars, but thrives as a cohesive unit. The result is a team capable of scoring, defending, and rebounding as a unified force, paving the way for an exhilarating season.
“I think the season will go well,” Micah Dempsey said. “There is a lot of chemistry within the team.”
Dempsey believes this chemistry will be crucial in helping the team succeed and form the strong bonds needed to navigate the season together.
“I have a good feeling about this year,” Dempsey said. “I hope we learn a lot and that great opportunities present themselves.”
For the Lady Tigers, the season also holds a lot of promise. Freshman Emma Stinson is especially excited for the opportunities ahead.
“I am really excited for the rest of the season,” Emma Stinson said. “The girls feel like family, and I love playing ball with them.”
With a sense of camaraderie forming both on and off the court, the Lady Tigers are ready to take on the competition. This season will prepare freshman with equal 5A competition to inherit skills for the future.
“I’m hoping to make varsity next year,” Stinson said, “and I will do whatever it takes to make that happen.”
Upcoming games for the Texas High boys’ varsity basketball team include a December 31 match-up at 2:30 PM at the Texas High gym. The Lady Tigers will take the court at noon on the same day, facing Whitehouse.
