History teacher Daniel Williams walked in the door and noticed his wife Katie wasn’t feeling well.
“I guessed she was pregnant like three times and she denied it,” Williams said, “finally she showed me a baby bib that said I love my daddy.”
Katie was indeed pregnant, and as the months passed Williams and his wife had the check up that every soon-to-be parents look forward to–the check up to find out if the baby is a girl or boy.
“I was looking at the sonogram and saw that it was a girl,” Williams said. “I was a little disappointed because I wanted a boy, but I’m still happy and will enjoy my first born child.”
Now with the sex of the baby identified, the Williams needed a name.
“My wife just started naming names she liked and I liked,” Williams said. “She wanted me to like the name as well so we decided to name her Ali Elyse.”
Ali Elyse Williams is expected to take her first breath on Dec. 23.
“I’m really looking forward to holding her,” Williams said, “and I hope she’s as cute as my wife and grows up to be hardworking.”
As December gets closer, Williams first period American History D.C. class decided to throw him a semi-surprise baby daddy shower.
“I’ve had him for two years, and [the class] wanted to show how much we really do like him,”
junior Alexis Pettigrew said. “Plus, he wanted a boy, so we had to rub it in that it was a girl.”
Williams received gifts like a baby bottle warmer, baby bottle cleaner, and a basket full of onesies, blankets and diapers.
“I was surprised, even though I knew my students were up to something,” Williams said. “All in all, I loved all my gifts, and my wife enjoyed every minute of the picture with me wearing the baby daddy crown and sash.”
Even though the baby is a girl, Williams reason for wanting his first born to be boy seems to be a family tradition.
“Every soon-to-be Dad wants a boy,” Williams said. “My Dad was the first born boy in his family, I was the first born boy in my family so it would’ve been cool to have three dads with three first born boys.”
As Williams prepares for the arrival of his new baby girl, he’s making a check list for things he needs to do before she arrives.
“One thing I need is to get a lot of sleep now because I won’t be getting much at all for the next 18 years,” he said.
