Football

If you are paying attention to Tiger football, you know that we beat the Arkansas High Razorbacks 21-0 in the annual cross-town rivalry. We had some defensive and offense highlights during the game those including Trevon Gooden with 10 tackles and a interception that he took back for a 46-yard touchdown. Also, Blake McCown had 10 tackles and Anthony Rhone had seven. On the offense side of things, Urian Nevels rushed more than 100 yards for the second week in a row. The Tigers will be playing Bentonville at 7:30 tonight at Grim Stadium. Last year, Bentonville defeated the Tigers, 30-7.

The junior varsity team had their undefeated record broken when they lost to Tyler Lee 15-18 Thursday night.

Volleyball

The Lady Tigers played Sherman Tuesday night to claim their second district game win including the one over Sulphur Springs last Friday. The Lady Tigers swept the Lady Cats 3-0. The Lady Tigers have won by at least 5 points in every game; the scores were 25-20, 25-19 and 25-20.

The player of the week for Sept. 5 – 9 was freshman Jalissa Trotter with 10 kills, 5 digs, 21 assists, 6 aces and 26 points. The player of the week for this week was freshman Chanell Hayes with 10 kills, 13 digs and 13 points.

Golf
The golf team placed a win at New Haven Golf Course on Thursday with Cole Kennedy leading the way. The Tigers had a score of 316, followed by Arkansas High with 333 and Pleasant Grove with 339.

Next Week
Most teams will take to the road for away games next week. Varsity football will face Royce City on Friday, while volleyball continues their district play on Tuesday against Greenville and on Friday against Royce City. Tennis will play Sherman on Tuesday.
