Police responded to the emergency call on March 3, 2024, to a residence on the 1000 block of College Dr. around 1:30 a.m., where they found the victim deceased from a gunshot wound inside an apartment. Police arrested a 16-year-old suspect on the scene.
The victim was identified as former Texas High School student, 17-year-old Jason Hubbard.
According to the Texarkana, Texas Police Department Facebook post, both the victim and suspect were believed to be friends. Initial charges have been filed on the suspect but are subject to change with the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
“While the incident did not occur on campus or involve school activities, we recognize the profound impact tragedies like this can have on our entire school community,” THS principal Ben Renner said. “Counselors will be available to provide emotional support and guidance to anyone in need.”
