Halloween should be celebrated
October 30, 2020
Children rush through neighborhoods decorated with cobwebs, while teens creep through haunted houses scattered with monsters and families huddle up for horror movies filled with jump scares. Halloween is celebrated by people of all ages in many unique ways.
Even with all these entertaining events, Halloween is still speculated to be a useless holiday that doesn’t need to be celebrated. However, I believe Halloween should be celebrated and given more appreciation for all that it brings.
Halloween encourages people to be creative
Halloween pushes people to be creative in unconventional ways then just simply decorating houses. One of the most popular being carving pumpkins and designing them with all sorts of different designs but pumpkins aren’t the only way to express creativity. Individuals can also make their own costumes and social media is filled with people coming up with different Halloween themed recipes, gifts, and games.
It embraces fear
Everybody has a fear and most days people try to forget their fears. Halloween is unique in the fact that it lets people embrace their fears ,and makes it enjoyable. Activities such as haunted houses and watching horror movies are compiled with different phobias an individual might have but it does it in a safe and exciting way that makes it thrilling to be scared.
People can express themselves
Dressing up is arguably the biggest aspect of Halloween and allows anyone to be themselves. Everyone is encouraged to dress in any way on this holiday so critiquing someone for what they like and dress as isn’t looked at with a positive light. Costumes are meant to embrace what each individual loves or what they came up with, and for one night people are encouraged to be anything they want even if it is strange and unusual.
Halloween gives people a reason to relax
Dressing up and parties aren’t everybody’s cup of tea but this holiday still gives people a reason to just relax for a night and take a break from their hectic schedules. Unlike other holidays like Christmas that involve rushing to get gifts and figuring out how to get to everybody’s house on time, Halloween doesn’t need all these grand events to be fun and if you don’t want to participate, it’s not hard to get out of it.
Halloween is a night where barriers are broken, and everything considered odd is able to come alive. It’s an enjoyable holiday that anyone can participate in to enjoy a chance to express themselves and have fun without it being too overwhelming with planning and events. This is why I believe that Halloween should be celebrated and appreciated.
