As I sit at my desk, I scroll through my emails looking for any acceptance letters from the colleges that I have applied to. I look around and compare myself to all of my classmates who have already applied and been accepted to colleges of their choice. I had no idea how the college process could be so easy for them but so complicated for me.
Leading up to filling out college applications, I was nervous as I scoured the internet for colleges that could possibly catch my interest. I always had this feeling of uncertainty every time someone would ask me about where I wanted to go or what I wanted to major in. Prior to being an upperclassman I didn’t think much about college, but now that the clock was ticking, I felt like my time was running out.
I decided it was time to sit down and think hard about what I wanted in a college. I discovered that one of my uncles graduated from Texas A&M University through their dentistry program, which is the field that I want to pursue.Â
After I talked with my uncle and did a little more research, I had a clearer view of how college operated and how the admission process was likely to be.Â
At first it was difficult to think of a specific topic to write about in my essays, but I kept my goals and aspirations in mind and the words came out easier than expected. Now all there is to do is wait and see.Â
Although I started out the year more stressed being an incoming senior with no idea how to prepare for my future, my friends , family, and teachers aided me greatly in reducing my anxiety about applying to college. Keeping what was most personable to me was the best option for me to overcome stress about time management and how other peoples experiences were compared to mine.
